Founded in 1904 by John Edward "Chiripula" Stephenson it is second colonial town in Zambia, only next to Livingstone. The city began it journey as boma and trading post before it was formally founded as a city. Since then, the city has never looked back. Besides being connected to major parts of the world it is also served by Zambia railway. On arrival, the guest would explore some of the tourist attractions the city has on offer. During their visit the guest should go to The Slave Tree or Mukuyu Slave Tree where Arabs held slave trade. Lake Chilengwa commands great cultural significance for locals. The city doesn’t have much to offer in terms of history but visiting Copperbelt Museum could be a great idea where gems and minerals of this region are put on display.
