Situated on Huon Peninsula of Papua New Guinea, Wasu is a major town that serves as the Gateway to Kabwum District, Tewae Siassi District and part of Madang Province. The town was founded in early 20th century with the arrival of the first Lutheran Missionaries when it acted as port for them. Huon Peninsula which is prominent for its amazing bird and animal life is often visited by animals and bird lovers who take business class flights to Wasu in order to arrive here. It is home to tree kangaroo and some birds that are found nowhere. The region may appear remote but once you arrive here you will find that your efforts have paid off.

Travellers often visit this rugged peninsula which is unique for variety of reasons. It is dominated by some of the steep mountains that include Saruwaged, Finisterre and Cromwell Mountains. The guests should also plan a visit to Lae which is the capital of Morobe province and second largest town in Papua New Guinea. The town of Lae is also referred as Garden city. It also houses a sizeable student community with presence of University of Technology. During their visit to the city the guest should go to visit the University of Technology. Lae War cemetery which was established in 1944 commemorates 2,800 soldiers who laid their lives during the Salamaua–Lae campaign. The museum also commemorates those died during Japanese detention. Lae Botanic Garden that offers a peek into the local flora should also be visited. Bumbu River that starts at the Adzera Mountain range is also an interesting place to visit. In addition to these, there are several beaches in vicinity that should be explored. The raised beach area of the peninsula has been added to UNESCO world heritage list.
