The only commercial port in Namibia, Walvis Bay, is identified with its relaxed pace of life. And perhaps it is why tourists prefer it over Swakopmund which is more glitzy and busy. The town situated at a short drive from Swakopmund has sea birds, pelicans and flamingos as natives besides human beings. The town was founded in 1793 by Cape Dutch was later annexed by British and made a part of South African union. Now this only port city of Namibia is resided by no less than 50,000 people. Its harbour and fish industry has propelled business activities.
