Despite not being so prosperous Uganda charms travellers with its wealth of attractions and a recently report has said that tourism has emerged as top export earner for the country. The country may not boast of opulence and glamour but it certainly has a wealth of wildlife, cultural attractions and flora that compels travellers to plan a holiday in Uganda. And this country in South Africa doesn’t disappoint the tourists. Having successfully recovered from a troubled history the country also referred as the ‘Pearl of Africa’ is heading towards a new future. And if rise in tourist footfalls is any measure the country is on a steady path of recovery. Here we turn spotlight on major thing to do in Uganda.

Bwindi impenetrable National Park

The recent addition to the list of national parks in Uganda is spread over an area of 331 sq km. The park is well known for its large number of mountain gorillas. Conservation efforts are on to protect and increase the number of gorillas. Apart from gorillas the park also houses elephants, chimpanzees, colobus monkeys and baboons.

Murchison Falls National Park

Situated adjacent to Murchison Falls this largest park in Uganda houses a large number of animals. Adding to its beauty Victoria Nile River flows through it. Spread over an area of 3893 square km, the park is highly frequented by travellers from around the world with a love for wildlife.

Lake Bunyonyi

One of the most beautiful lakes in Uganda, Lake Bunyonyi is a destination you will love to visit very often. The lake is lined with island and hills that further add to its beauty. Ssese Island situated on the coasts of Lake is hot favourite among travellers as a place to relax.

National Theatre

Situated in Kampla National Theatre hosts several programs related to music, dance, drama and films but free outdoor weeknightly events are one of the major draw cards. Tourists and locals often flock to see its various programs that include comedy nights and other programmes in regional languages.

Jinja

Known for being the source of the Nile River Jinja is well known for its various adventurous options that includes white-water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, quad biking, horseback riding and bungee jumping among other things. Situated amidst a lush green surrounding, the town also acts as commercial hub of east Uganda.

Kamapla

Kamapla the capital and largest city in Uganda with several attractions to keep you engaged for few days. The city can be explored during the day without any fear. From the city with a bad reputation the Ugandan capital has evolved as a modern city with several things to see, do and explore.
