One of the largest cities in Brazil, Recife is a fine amalgamation of tradition and modernity. This one of the most exciting cities in northeast has a thriving cultural, entertainment and dining scene. But it is not all this city has to offer, as it is home to an impressive historic center, stunning coastal setting, and a fabulous Carnaval. But if you think that Recife is a traditional city than visit its commercial and shopping districts and you will find that it is reasonably modern. Like other Brazilian cities Recife also has a passion for football. A large number of football fans from around the world would fly to Recife to see matches of FIFA 2014. Museu do Estado de Pernambuco

Spread over more than 9,000m, the Museum of Pernambuco State leaves you stunned with its impressive collection that includes paintings, photos, prints, furniture, and armoury of different stages of Brazilian history. The museum also has a library with a great collection of books. Group exhibition are also conducted here occasionally.

The Malakoff Tower

The Malakoff Tower came into existence during the Crimean War, and has served as observation tower for long. But nowadays the tower is serving as cultural center of the Recife, with an exhibition hall, an amphitheatre. Lectures and workshops conducted every now and often.

Dois Irmãos Park

Dois Irmãos Park could be a great destination for wildlife lovers. This natural reserve is home to close than 800 animals. Tapir, Spider Monkey, Samba deer, Otter, Raccoon are major animals found here.

Casa da Cultura

Casa da Cultura is also referred as the House of Culture. The place has also once served as prison. Now the place has a good number of shops, cafes and bookstores that tourists might find interesting. The place also houses Museum of Frevo.

Memorial Chico Science

Memorial Chico Science exhibits the work of former Nação Zumbi singer Chico Science, a famed musician. Nação Zumbi was the founder of the mangue beat cultural movement. People with love for music often frequent this site.

Gaibu

Apart from other attractions, Recife is also well known for its beautiful beaches. Gaibu with its palm fringed surrounding is one such beach frequented by locals and foreigners alike. The guests can indulge in an array of activities that includes beach volleyball, fishing, surfing or just sitting idle at the beaches.

Praca da Repulica

Once political and cultural hub of the city this important square was given a new lease of life by landscape architect Burle Marx in the 1930s. The area is home to several historic buildings.
