Singapore - A dream come true for Lee Kuan Yew

Hindered of thousand of Singaporeans and leaders from around the world have paid condolence to Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore who transformed this port country to a world class country city. Not surprises, Singaporeans are still mourning the death of the man who transformed this country city into a world class place. From just a stopover from ships and planes, the city has done almost a miracle and now it is synonymous to efficient infrastructure, great nightlife, ample shopping hubs, chic restaurants and ever ticking event calendar. Its prosperity and emergence as a great country is largely attributed to Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who left for heavenly abode recently. Thousands of tourists fly to Singapore to explore the city which has gone under dramatic transformation, and we hope you will love everything but, there is a world of caution; don’t chew gum else you would be violating the law of the land. Let us know what should Mr. Lee be given credit for?
Building state of the art infrastructure
When Singapore got independence in 1965 it was a struggling island. Unemployment was on peak but, instead of seeing it as a problem Lee Kuan Yew saw it as an opportunity. He emphasised on growth, making Singapore a great destination for investment. He set a good platform to attract highly skilled manpower. Changes in bureaucracy and tax regime also made it a favourite destination for investment. Good relations with powerful countries like the US and China also helped Singapore emerge as a great destination.
Social Engineering
Due to ethnically and religiously diverse population maintaining social harmony was a daunting task. But it was not difficult for Lee who was a trained lawyer. He emphasised on quality education and practiced meritocracy in government. Due to these measures the country started showing upward social mobility.
Stable Government
Lee Kuan Yew knew better that economic stability would be key to permanent change. As political instability would reverse the development and policies could be reversed. Implementation of rule of law effective administration and economic stability transformed Singapore from a poor country of 60’s to one of the most advanced counties in the world.
Immigrant friendly policies
Lee Kuan Yew was aware that the country has certain limitations and they need intelligent people to work for them. He urged people to be more accommodative towards foreigners. And now a large number of highly skilled people from different parts of the world are working for Singapore.
The country which is a dream come true for Lee Kuan yew is also a destination par excellence with a large number of people from around the world frequenting it for the reasons that include shopping and some of the famous tourist attractions like Sentosa, Singapore Flyer and Marine Life Park among others.
