Paraguayan cities are laidback yet interesting

Paraguay, a landlocked country in South America, packs a punch with amazing contrasts. Surrounded by Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil; its contrasts lies in opulence and extreme poverty, rusticity and sophistication and natural and manmade attractions. The country may not appeal to beach lovers but it is not bland either. Blessed with vast resources and several manmade dams Paraguay is a fine amalgamation of natural and manmade attractions that provides enough reasons to visit. Its capital Asuncion is well known for its laidback charm while countryside inspires you to spend some more days exploring it. Here we turn spotlight on major cities in Paraguay.
Asuncion
Founded in 1537 Asuncion, currently the capital of Paraguay, has also served as the colonial capital of southern South America and several architectural masterpieces dotting its landscape, tale the tale of its impressive historic past. Beautifully decorated buildings speak volumes about its heydays. Charmed by its multiple allures vacationers often take a flight from Heathrow to Asuncion to explore this city in details. Visit its streets and you will see vendors selling several things related to day to day life and women offering old world remedies to almost every ailment.
Encarnación
Despite being small in size Encarnación the city charms tourists with its amazing contrasts. The city can easily be reached from Argentinean town of Posadas as these connected by a bridge. Frequent bus services from Asuncion and Ciudad del Este are also available. The town has a sizable number of Eastern European immigrants that adds to its cultural diversity. Casa de la Cultura, Plaza de Armas and Catedral de Encarnación are major attractions in the city.
Villa Florida
The road to Villa Florida is lined with rolling grasslands which serves as the grazing ground for the cattle. After seeing glamour and glitz of Asuncion, the town gives you an experience of different kind. Tebicuary River flowing near town is lined with promenades which are popular among anglers. There are several hotels and restaurants in the city that you may find interesting.
Ciudad del Este
Ciudad del Este, the second largest city in Paraguay, is situated on the borders of Argentina and Brazil. The place is highly frequented by for its myriad shopping options. The city may not be existence for long so it can’t boast a great history. It may not be home to several tourists attractions but it is gateway to the famous Iguazú Falls. As condition of law and order is not good stay in the city is not recommended.
Itá
Ita is well known in Paraguay and neighbouring countries for its ceramics and black clay pottery is its most celebrated offering. On arrival to the city you will see several stalls selling ceramic products selling products. Government run stalls are also here selling ceramic products.
Filadelfia
Filadelfia, also referred as Colonia Fernheim is situated in the Chaco region of Paraguay. The town looks different from rest of the country due to its remote setting and a large population of German immigrants. The city’s economy is based on agriculture. Apart from the local language German and Spanish are also widely spoken.
