Despite not large in size, Jordan is efficiently packed with diversities. The country is finely strewn with historical sites, vast stretches of deserts, the Dead Sea and Petra which has become synonymous with identity of Jordan. Apart from these, the country is home to several other sites to engage you for few days. As English is widely spoken the travellers will find no difficulty in communicating. Here we give spotlight on top destinations to visit in Jordan.

Petra

No trip to Jordan is said to be complete without a visit to Petra, an ancient city carved out of sandstone cliffs. The popularity of this one of the most spectacular sites in Jordan has transcended beyond borders. The city that was accidently discovered by an adventurer in 1812 is known for its beautiful setting. This once prosperous city on Carvan trade is has endured two centuries of rough weather which has diminished its feature.

Amman

Amman, the capital and the largest city of the kingdom is also a great destination in its own right. Most of the travellers fly to Amman which is a gateway to major destinations in Jordan. The capital spread on seven hills and housing more than 1 million people presents modern face of the country. The city looks stunning with impressive housing blocks and government buildings. It also offer a hassle free access to Jerash a popular site.

Madaba

Situated at a short distance from the city of Amman, Madaba is also referred as the city of Mosaics. The city traces its history from the middle age but made development in art. On their visit, the tourists will be able to see fascinating mosaics situated across the city. The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George is an ideal place to see mosaics.

Aqaba

Snuggled on the north-western tip of Red Sea, Aqaba is highly popular among travellers with a love for sports. With beautiful seashore, the town provides enough options for diving and snorkelling. You can hire a boat to explore this area better.

Jerash

Situated at a short drive from Amman, Jerash is a destination you would love to visit often. A path passing through boulders and grasslands takes you to Jerash, where remains of a provincial Roman city are still in existence. The site was buried under debris for centuries before it was discovered by a German traveller.

Irbid

Situated in northern part of the kingdom, the city is home to the Yarmouk University. The city has enough things to see and do for the travellers. Walking University Street, with restaurants, shops, and boutiques is an experience in itself.
