United to launch flight on Newcastle - Newark route
By Carlton Leisure - 28 Oct 2014
United Airline is all set to launch nonstop service from Newcastle to Newark. The seasonal flight will start on May 23 and run through Sept. 7.
The airline will operate this route five times a week - there will be flights every day except Tuesday and Wednesday - using 169-seat Boeing 757 aircraft in three class configuration that include 16 flat-bed business-class seats, 45 Economy Plus seats and 108 standard coach seats.
It is being said that it is Airport's first-ever trans-Atlantic nonstop route except sporadic targeted holiday flights to New York by Jet2.com. The airport can claim that United's flight to Newark is Newcastle airport's first-ever regularly scheduled trans-Atlantic flights by a major carrier.
The launch of this route will provide leisure and business travellers direct connectivity from Newcastle Airport.
