Thai Airways to operate LHR – Bangkok Service with B747
By Carlton Leisure - 19 Sep 2014
Thai Airways has announced to deploy B747-400 on its double daily Heathrow – Bangkok service from October 26.
The jumbo jet will replace the currently operating A340-600 on this route. From October 26 onwards, flights TG910 and TG916 to London and the returning TG911 and TG917 to Bangkok will be operated with this aircraft.
With this announcement, first and economy class seats will also see a significant change, while the business class cabin will be downsized.
The carrier has two configurations of B747 aircraft. However it has not revealed which aircraft will be deployed on this route. But both the configurations have smaller business class cabins in comparison to the A340.
The deployment of B747 is in sync with airlines recent trend to deploy B747on its several high density routes. Previously the carrier had confirmed that Bangkok - Sydney route will be operated with the B747 and not B777 as it was originally planned.
Continuing this trend, the airline will replace A340 with the B747 on its Bangkok - Milan Malpensa route.
