Icelandair has announced to boost flight frequency from Glasgow Airport later this season. The airline wills operate an extra flight on Saturday from 5th September to 25th October 2015, adding more than 1,400 seats. The carrier will increase its frequency from 3 to 4 flights a week in January.

A top placed official from the airline said that Iceland’s geographical position midway between Europe and North America enables it to offer some of the fastest elapsed times to the USA from 5 UK gateways.

An official from Glasgow Airport said that announcement of Icelandair to increase its capacity on this service is great news for the airport. He said that the announcement will be welcomed by travellers from North America and Scotland.

Glasgow is a highly popular destination for North Americans so the increase in frequency is supposed to be well received by the travellers based there.
