Icelandair boosts Glasgow service on 70th anniversary

As a mark of 70th anniversary of flying to Scotland, Icelandair has announced to increase flights from Glasgow to Reykjavik. The flights will commence operation from March 2016.

With this launch, the number of Icelandair flights to Glasgow will increase from five to six thus adding more seats to Glasgow. The additional flight will be operated on Saturday mornings from 19 March 2016.

In the year 1945, the flag carrier of Iceland flew to Scotland when a Catalina boat plane from Reykjavik, Iceland arrived to Largs Bay, Scotland, with 4 crew members and 4 passengers on board.

A top placed official from the airline said that it is pleasant to announce an increase in number of weekly flights from Glasgow. The carrier is celebrating 70 years of relationship with Scotland. He further said that demand for this destination has been strong and the carrier is looking forward to offer more options of flying to Iceland and connect to its network to US and Canada.

A senior official from the Glasgow Airport also expressed pleasure on increase in frequency.
