Eurowings to launch Edinburgh – Dusseldorf route
By Carlton Leisure - 30 Oct 2015
Eurowings, a German low-cost carrier, has announced to launch a new direct flight to Dusseldorf from Edinburgh.
The new service will commence on March 27 next year, and will be operated three times weekly.
Edinburgh Airport and VisitScotland has welcomed this decision.
Edinburgh Airport’s Chief Executive Gordon Dewar said that launch of new flights highlights the airport’s commitment to delivering increased options for passengers and business links between both the countries. He further said that a direct flight into the heart of Dusseldorf offers more flying options and reaffirms Edinburgh Airport’s position as a leader for business connectivity between Scotland and the continent.
He also gave credit to Eurowings for recognising the growing demand from Edinburgh.
Eurowings, which is a subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, already serves Cologne from Edinburgh. Lufthansa also serves Frankfurt – Edinburgh service while two other airlines of the same group - Brussels Airlines and Edelweiss Airlines (Swiss) - operate Brussels and Zurich respectively from Edinburgh.
