By Carlton Leisure - 29 May 2014
Icelandair, the leading airline of Iceland since 1937 has announced its scheduled services from Birmingham to Reykjavik. With this Birmingham will become Icelandair’s 5th gateway in UK and 39th overall. The new flights will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Mondays from 5th of February 2015.
According to Andres Jonsson, General Manager of Icelandair UK, it is a delightful occasion to announce Birmingham as the newest gateway in the UK. It is the first route from the Midlands and it will not only open up opportunities of travelling to and from Iceland but also refreshing the convenient way to North America.
In the words of William Pearson, Birmingham Airport’s Aviation Development Director, the decision by Icelandair to commence services from Birmingham is fantastic news for Midland’s business and leisure travellers wanting to reach Reykjavik and onwards to the USA and Canada using Icelandair’s strong network of connecting flights. The Birmingham service operates an Icelandair Boeing 757, seating 183 passengers, offering three cabin service, leather seats and personal in-flight entertainment systems.
In addition to Birmingham, Icelandair also offers year round service from UK to Iceland from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.
