British Airways to launch direct flight on London - Costa Rica route

Flying options for travellers travelling between London and Costa Rica is soon going to increase as British Airways has announced to launch a direct flight to San Jose from London Gatwick. The flights will commence operations from May 4, 2016.
The airline will operate this route twice weekly on Saturday and Wednesday during the UK summer and thrice weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the winters. This will be airlines first route to Central America.
Costa Rican president Luis Guillermo Solis said that adding a new direct flight to Europe took many years. Presently only Spanish carrier Iberia flies direct to Costa Rica from the old continent. He further said that this new connection would help develop tourism industry and consequently employment and growth.
As per estimates of the Costa Rica Tourism Board the new route would carry around 30,000 passengers every year. The airline will operate this route using Boeing 777 with capacity for 275 passengers.
