By Carlton Leisure - 07 Nov 2015
Budget carrier Norwegian has launched direct flights from London Gatwick to Puerto Rico. It is the UK’s first direct flight to San Juan in a decade.
The carrier will operate this route twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays using a 787 Dremaliner.
Norwegian, which has become the third largest airline at London Gatwick, flies to 34 destinations including New York, Boston, Berlin and Madrid. Previously, the airline offers two new routes from Birmingham to Tenerife and Gran Canaria this week.
A top official from the airline said that Puerto Rico is their fifth long haul route from London Gatwick in just 18 months and demonstrates the demand for affordable transatlantic flights from the UK. Puerto Rico is a fine amalgamation of American and Caribbean cultures which the carrier expects to be highly popular among British vacationers.
The flights are expected to be beneficial for business as well as leisure travellers.
