New Zealand wins best destination award

Prestigious Telegraph Travel Awards 2014 has been announced and New Zealand has won the best country for the third year in a row. Ninety thousand readers who took part in the poll put New Zealand ahead of the Maldives and South Africa in the country category.
The awards were announced in a glittering ceremony at Banking Hall in central London. Cape Town has been named top city in the ‘City category’.
The award ceremony was introduced by Charles Starmer-Smith, Group Head of Travel, and the presentations were made by Sean Lock, the actor and comedian, who was the guest speaker.
A top placed official from the Telegraph said that New Zealand is the place where British tourists can enjoy the thrill of long-haul travel besides the pleasure of being greeted in their native tongue.
With availability of direct flights from LHR to Auckland the travellers would have opportunity to sample natural wonders, birdlife and Marlborough's wine. In addition they would also have opportunity to explore cities like Christchurch and wellington.
As New Zealand is also a host of 2014 Cricket world cup a large number of British national are expected to visit this country.
