Air Canada, WestJet to fly from Gatwick

Air Canada and WestJet which are rival Canadian airlines are taking their domestic rivalry to next level as both airlines are adding flights from Gatwick Airport next year.
Air Canada which is largest airline of Canada is already operating services to eight Canadian cities from London Heathrow. The airline has announced that it will add flights on Gatwick - Toronto route on its leisure wing Rouge next summer.
With this launch Air Canada will be only airline servicing multiple airports in the London area. Its proposed flight to Gatwick with focus on leisure travel provides easy access to southern London.
In another development, WestJet has announced to fly to Gatwick next spring. The airline had said that the Gatwick would be airlines first transatlantic destination for its wide-body Boeing 767s. The service which is all set to begin by next spring is yet to disclose its originating airports.
The airline is currently operating services to Dublin from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and to Glasgow, Scotland, from Halifax.
